How Beam compares
Beam is a local-first prototype that watches what AI coding agents do and scans skills and MCP servers before you trust them — it observes and flags, it does not block. Several tools below already ship blocking, fleet deployment, or are free and open source; this page says so plainly rather than around it.
Grouped by category below. Every comparison page states Beam’s current gaps — no enforcement, no MDM or console, no SSO or SOC 2, heuristic scanning, unpublished pricing — and links its source.

Local endpoint agent monitors
Tools that watch what a coding agent does on a developer's own machine — shell commands, file access, tool and MCP calls. This is the layer Beam sits in.
PERPLEXITY
numbat
Free, Apache-2.0 local agent-activity monitor with opt-in blocking
Compare with BeamMINTMCP
Agent Monitor
Enterprise agent monitoring with blocking, MDM rollout and SIEM export

Compare with BeamEUNOMIA-BPF
AgentSight
Open-source eBPF boundary tracing for agent activity
Compare with Beam
MCP and skill scanners
Scanners that inspect MCP servers and skill files for prompt injection, tool poisoning and credential handling before you run them. A crowded, mostly free niche.
Enterprise AI security platforms
Well-funded platforms covering AI discovery, posture, runtime protection and enforcement across an organisation. Most already do things Beam does not.

This page covers the 18 tools closest to Beam’s category, based on a September 2026 review of the AI agent security market. If you don’t see the tool you’re evaluating against, treat that as a gap in our research, not a claim about that tool.
