AI Agent Security (Course)
Agent Identity
Also: agent ID, non-human agent identity
A distinct identity for an AI agent, separate from the user who sponsors it, so its actions can be attributed, scoped and revoked.
In more detail
If an agent acts under its user's identity, logs cannot tell what the person did from what the agent did, and the agent holds the user's whole authority. A separate agent identity lets permissions be scoped to a task, time-limited and revoked, and lets audit trails attribute actions correctly. Vendors began announcing agent identity features in 2026; the same principle can be applied now with separate machine accounts and short-lived credentials.
