A large group of compromised devices controlled together by an attacker.
In more detail
Botnets are built from poorly secured computers, routers and cheap internet-connected devices. The attacker can use them to send traffic floods, mine cryptocurrency, relay attacks or scan for more victims. Because the traffic comes from many ordinary addresses, blocking by single address does not work.
