Systems & Memory
Heartbleed
The nickname for CVE-2014-0160, an OpenSSL bug that let a remote client read chunks of a server's memory.
In more detail
The heartbeat feature trusted a length supplied by the sender and echoed back that many bytes, including neighbouring memory. The fix was to check the length; the cleanup also required replacing keys and credentials.
