A group of ordinary processes given a private view of files, processes and network by the host kernel.

Containers start fast and are light because they share the host's kernel, but that also makes their isolation only as strong as the kernel and the settings used. Privileged mode, mounted host folders or a mounted Docker socket can remove the wall entirely.
