Root Account
Also: root, administrator, SYSTEM
The all-powerful account on a machine that ignores almost every permission check.
In more detail
Called root on macOS and Linux, and Administrator or SYSTEM on Windows. A process running as root can read any file, change any setting and install anything that starts at boot. Attackers often try to reach it through privilege escalation, and services are kept off it for that reason.
