Virtual Memory
Also: address space
The private view of memory each process gets, so one process cannot read another's by default.
In more detail
The operating system maps each process's addresses to real memory separately. Address 1000 in one process is a different place from address 1000 in another. This isolation is a core protection, and bugs that let a process read memory it should not are a major vulnerability family.
